A reflective video-journal _ Irina Baldini
In the space and time of this video, self-referential thoughts will appear in different forms.
All the mediums that will be encountered imply problematics and questions, which I am attempting to acknowledge and tackle: using language to guide but not to lock, drawing to suggest but not to illustrate, blurring image and text to soften but not to confuse. These attempts can be approached with criticism or sympathy based on the reader’s experiences or interests that may or may not be similar to the ones proposed: not defining, yet accessing. It does not want to be a lecture on any of the specified subjects, but parts of the whole can be taken as reference points for further exploration or relation to theoretical or practical matters. This composition does not ask to be followed in the chronology it is presented. It will sound at times arbitrary, at others vague. In the same way, or different, that I have been inspired to provoke in myself doubts about the necessity of statements, or their reliability, I hope to provoke and leave something with the reader. All statements are absolute but never definitive. All statements begin. How they continue or whether they end, I leave up to the reader. Despite the material nature of this document, not all theoretical aspects in it are provable, they do not derive merely from research, and therefore remain at times un-finished and form-less as the dance I have interest in. I have dealt with this video as if it were a choreography, but it is not. At the same time… it is not a dance it is not targeted it is not a work of art it is not a research It is not a book it is not a project it is not developing it is not an activity it is not participatory it does not have a frame it is not mine… But it can be all of these.
